What a way to start the football season.
It all began last Thursday when the Antigo High School junior varsity defeated Wausau West, 16-8, with an Antigo style ball control offense, followed by the big shocker the next night when the Red Robin varsity stunned the Warriors, 23-21.
The double wins demonstrated that AHS can still play with the big boys.

Red Robins face Marshfield in 2010 football home opener Friday Sept. 1, 2010 The Antigo Red Robins football team will host former Wisconsin Valley Conference power Marshfield at Schofield Stadium Friday night in its 7 p.m. home opener.
The last time these two teams squared off was early in the 2007 season, where Marshfield defeated the Robins 34-30.
Antigo is riding the tide of a 23-21 victory over Wausau West, while Marshfield was beaten by Menomonie 22-14.

Alicia Lex goes perfect at Merrill for Robin tennis team Sept. 1, 2010 The Antigo varsity girls tennis team competed Monday in a non-conference quadrangular at Merrill.
Falling just short of victory versus Marshfield Columbus 4-3, the Lady Robins beat Lakeland 4-3 but lost to Merrill 6-1.
Playing at No. 3 and 4 singles, Alicia Lex and Rachel Frei both picked up wins over Columbus as did the No. 3 doubles team of Amber Fuller and Morgan Pavek. Lex trounced Rebecca Lamermay 6-0, 6-0, Frei defeated Jerra Kumm 6-2, 6-2 and the Fuller-Pavek duo topped Cassidy Schlinsog and Maddy Havican 3-6, 6-0, 11-9. ... More Subscribe
Artymiuk, Shinners lead Robin pack at Hodag Invite Aug. 30, 2010 The 2010 Red Robin cross country season is off and running after Saturday’s Hodag Invite in Rhinelander.
A little shorthanded, the Antigo boys were unable to field a full team of five, the minimum needed to score as a team.
Even with the adversity, the squad marked some strong times with Cody Artymiuk making a huge statement in taking a second place finish — tight on the heels of D.C. Everest’s Sam Anderson.
