Council may add more decorative light poles to downtown project
space
Spring is just weeks away, meaning the Antigo Common Council will begin planning in earnest for the reconstruction of Fifth Avenue through downtown.

At Wednesday's meeting of the Antigo Common Council, aldermen will review an early change order for the $4.5 million project, which will stretch from Superior to Lincoln streets.

The session will begin at 6 p.m. in the chambers at City Hall.

The resolution under consideration would amend the agreement with MSA Professional Services for work related to the replacement of existing street lights with decorative poles along Clermont Street, Fourth to Fifth Avenues and Edison Street, Fourth to Sixth Avenues.

The resolution notes the existing poles have deteriorated into a condition requiring their replacement. There are also safety concerns for those traveling along the corridor.

The work is being financed by a mix of city funds and grants. Preliminary planning started in 2019 with the shovels scheduled to get to work in mid-May.

In other business, Wednesday, aldermen are expected to approve several sewer credits due to broken pipes, which did not allow the water to enter the sanitary system. They include 126 S. Park St., $470.38; 725 Deleglise St., $151.10; 833 Eighth Ave., $125.39.

Aldermen will also:

â€purchase four IV pumps for the ambulance service for $9,860, with partial funding with the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation.

â€increase compensation for the city attorney by $500 per month effective Feb. 21.

â€confirm the appointment of Kourtney Imig as assistant city attorney effective March 1.

â€and approve funding and a July Fourth contract for 2020 with Fireworks Country.

Officials are also seeking approval to contract with Refrigeration Controls and Designs Inc. of Rhinelander for the design, bidding services and limited construction inspection for up to $8,925 related to heating and ventilation upgrades at the Antigo Public Library.
