Antigo Area Weekend Activities

The Classic Cruise vintage snowmobile ride, a fishing derby in White Lake and anniversary of a longtime local watering hole lead the events list for the first weekend of February.

A look ahead, taken from the Antigo Daily Journal's advertising columns, follows:

CLASSIC CRUISE

The Deerbrook Bridge Runners Snowmobile Club will hold its 17th Classic Cruise vintage and antique snowmobile ride Saturday, leaving from Quinn's Bar in Neva Corners.

Registration starts at 10 a.m. with the ride at noon. The $10 fee includes a commemorative lapel pin, soup and sandwich supper and a chance to win $100. Tickets will also be sold for a 1981 Kawasaki Drifter 440.

After the ride, stay at Quinn's for food, drawings, prizes and karaoke.

Riders are invited to bring a nonperishable item for the Antigo Community Food Pantry, A percentage of profits will also be earmarked for the pantry.

FISHING DERBY

The White Lake Volunteer Fire Department will hold its 46th annual fishing derby on Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. headquartered at the heated White Lake Pavilion.

There will be food and drinks, paddle wheel, raffles, 50-50 drawing, poker table and door prizes all day.

The main drawing will be at 4 p.m.

ANNIVERSARY

Held's Bar will celebrate 23 years in business on Saturday.

There will be live music by Whiskey and Lace at 8 p.m. along with free beer.

Held's is located at the corners of Highways C, I and H, Deerbrook. It's number 8 on the snowmobile trail.

HISTORY, THE ARTS

The Langlade County Historical Society Museum is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complex includes the Carnegie library building, Deleglise Cabin and 440 locomotive and caboose. It is located at 404 Superior St. The society is in the midst of a major fundraising campaign to install an elevator and make other necessary and aesthetic improvements. Stop by the museum to pick up a brochure.

The White Lake Area Historical Society operates the Depot Museum and Historical Center in White Lake. Hours are Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

MOVIES

Now showing at the Palace Twin Theater are “1917,” and “Bad Boys for Life,” both rated R.

OTHER EVENTS

Give blood and help save a life. Aspirus Langlade Hospital, in conjunction with the Blood Center of Northcentral Wisconsin, will hold a blood drive on Monday, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the conference room. Call the blood center toll-free at 1-866-566-5900 to schedule an appointment or fore more information. Walk-in donors are always welcome.
