Solve the murder at Gladstone High and support the Langlade County Humane Society this weekend.

Saturday's murder mystery dinner is among the highlights of the first weekend of November, which also includes the opening of Antigo Community Theatre's musical production, “The Secret Garden.:”

MURDER MYSTERY DINNER

Langlade County Humane Society presents a 1980s Prom Murder Mystery Dinner on Saturday at “Gladstone High,” located at North Star Lanes.

Doors open at 5 p.m. with the mystery beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

Put on your thinking cap and your best 1980s prom garb and bring your guy, gal or group of friends. Enjoy the interactive and entertaining murder mystery experience while making a positive impact on the animals at the shelter.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Advance tickets are available at the animal shelter and North Star Lanes.

SECRET GARDEN

Antigo Community Theatre will present “The Secret Garden” beginning today.

The abridged, family friendly length of the original, award winning musical will be staged at the Antigo High School's Volm Theater on tonight and Saturday and again on Nov. 7, 8, 9 at 7 p.m. with a Sunday matinee this week at 2 p.m.

Orphaned in India, 11-year-old Mary Lennox returns to Yorkshire, England to live with her embittered, reclusive Uncle Archibald and his invalid son Colin. The estate's many wonders include a magic garden which beckons the children with haunting melodies and “Dreamers.” Spirits from Mary's past guide her through her new life, dramatizing The Secret Garden's compelling tale of forgiveness.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children up to 18. They are now on sale at Neve's Floors to Go, Furniture & Mattress Gallery at 710 Fifth Ave.

MORE HALLOWEEN FUN

Koni K's Korner Pub in Elcho will hold a Halloween bash tonight starting at 9 p.m. There will be music with Lovin' Country and prizes for best costume, Register by 10:30 p.m.

Not Bob's Bar invites patrons to “join us if you dare” on Saturday. The bar, located ay N2496 Hwy. 45 S., will feature music with “Taste of Time: 5 Decades of Rock” from 8 p.m. to midnight. There will also be a costume contest with prizes. Judging will be at 10 p.m.

Rick's 45 Roadhouse on Highway 45 a mile north of Antigo will have a Halloween party Saturday. Judging will be at 10 p.m.

HISTORY, THE ARTS

The Langlade County Historical Society Museum is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complex includes the Carnegie library building, Deleglise Cabin and 440 locomotive and caboose. It is located at 404 Superior St. The Society is in the midst of a major fundraising campaign to install an elevator and make other necessary and aesthetic improvements. Stop by the museum to pick up a brochure.

Antigo Visual Arts fall 2019 fall show, "Autumn's Blessings," features 70 pieces of original artwork. It will hang in the Langlade County Historical Museum gallery through Nov. 28.

The White Lake Area Historical Society operates the Depot Museum and Historical Center in White Lake. Hours are Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

MOVIES

Now showing at the Palace Twin Theater are “Terminator: Dark Fate,” rated R, and “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil,” rated PG.

OTHER EVENTS

The HeART Program offers a range of senior technology help. It includes Tech Tuesdays on the first and third Tuesdays of the month, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Antigo Public Library.

Aspirus Langlade Hospital, in conjunction with the Blood Center of Northcentral Wisconsin, will host a blood drive on Monday, 111:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., in he hospital conference room. Call he Blood Center toll-free at 1-866-566-5900 for information. Walk-in donors are always welcome.
