It will be a very musical week in Langlade County.

A quirk of the summer outdoor concert schedule means there is live music in Antigo, White Lake and Elcho on Monday through Thursday next week, offering plenty of opportunities for fellowship and fun.

There's also golf, a block party, great auction, and much more on the docket.

A look at events, taken from the Journal's advertising columns, follows:

MUSIC IN THE PARK

Langlade County's summer Music in the Park series, which has grown from an occasional night of entertainment to a full-fledgedand very fullschedule, is now underway.

Music returns to the City Park bandstand on Monday with Quarry Road, sponsored by Dixie Lunch and Fifth Avenue. A barbecue plate, pies and custard will be served by Community Special Needs Bible class.

On Tuesday music comes to the White Lake Deport for the first concert of the year. Quarry Road will also be performing with the show sponsored by community businesses and families. Pizza, pie and ice cream will be served by White Lake Girl Scouts. Bring a lawn chair and non-perishable item for the White Lake Area Christian Food Pantry.

Music continues Wednesday at the Elcho Community Pavilion with Lovin' Country. Food will be served by Elcho Girl Scouts.

On Thursday the City Park bandstand will host Country Risc in a show sponsored by Dr. Stan Brown. Hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, pies, bars and custard will be served by Faith Center Church of God.

All concerts start at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise indicated. Food is served at 5:30 p.m.

In case of rain, Antigo concerts are moved to the Heinzen Pavilion at Peaceful Valley Park and White Lake's are relocated to the Lake Pavilion. Elcho's venue allows concerts rain-or-shine.

BLOCK PARTY

The Langlade County Block Party will take place on Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m., at Apostolic Worship Center in Elton.

There will be free food, bounce houses, prizes and gift cards, a youth Easter egg hunt and hundreds of dollars worth of giveaways.

HISTORY, THE ARTS

Antigo Visual Arts is celebrating “Summer in the Northwoods,” with an exhibit now on display in the AVA art gallery in the Langlade County Historical Society Museum. The show is available for viewing during regular museum hours, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. It will hang until AVA's fall show opens Sept. 14.

The Langlade County Historical Society Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complex includes the Carnegie library building, Deleglise Cabin and 440 locomotive and caboose. It is located at 404 Superior St. The Society is in the midst of a major fundraising campaign to install an elevator and make other necessary and aesthetic improvements. Stop by the museum to pick up a brochure.

The White Lake Area Historical Society operates the Depot Museum and Historical Center in White Lake. Hours are Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Old Corner School at Neva Corners has a treasure trove of civic lessons, history, community lore and early life in Langlade County. It is open from noon to 4 p.m. on holiday weekends, Monday; July 4-7; and Aug. 31-Sept. 2. It is also available by appointment. Call Peg Aulik at 715 623-4212.

SALES

North Central Sales Auction will hold a live onsite auction of the estate of Clem Neumann, 233336 Colonial Rd, Wausau, Saturday stating at 10 a.m. The amazing lineup includes a 1938 Lincoln Zephyr, a sailboat with trailer, farm primitives and much more.

DINING

Faith United Church of Christ will hold a brat and pie sale on Friday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lakeside Market.

Karl's Transport will host the eighth annual Clifford Hausmann Memorial Vietnam Vet Cookout on Friday, June 21, 4 to 7:30 p.m. in the Heinzen Pavilion at Peaceful Valley Park. The invitation is extended to all veterans and their families.

SPORTS

The ninth annual All Saints Catholic School summer golf outing is set for Saturday at Bass Lake Golf Course. The four-person scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be music from 7 to 9 p.m. and dinner from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Riverview Golf Course is offering junior lessons on June 18, 20 and 21 at 9:30 a.m. Lessons will continue most Fridays at 9:30 a.m. through the summer. Cost is $10 for the season and clubs will be furnished if needed. No pre-registration is necessary. Sign up at Riverview.

Take me out to the ball game with American Legion Baseball and the Antigo Typhoon. Home games are held at Kretz Bros. Park. This week's schedule includes home games at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. The junior league tournament is June 21-23.

The Antigo Polar Bears continues the 2019 BABA schedule, taking on Wittenberg in a 1:30 p.m. away game Sunday. Games continue on most Sundays through Aug. 4.

Planning is underway for summer football. There will be a mini-camp for grades nine through 12 on July 15-18. A mandatory parent/guardian and athlete fall sports meeting will be held on July 31 starting with online registration at 4:30 p.m. First day of practice is Aug. 6.

The Clara R. McKenna Aquatic Center has announced the 2019 summer swim lesson schedule. There are classes for preschool through level six along with lifeguarding at various times throughout the summer months. Contact the aquatic center at 715 627-0497 for details.

MOVIES

Now showing at the Palace Twin Theater are “Men in Black: International,” rated PG-13, and “The Secret Life of Pets 2,” rated PG.

The city of Antigo will have a free outdoor movie at Senior League Field tonight at 9:15 p.m. Showing will be “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” sponsored by Gary Kuhlman.

THEATER

Wausau Community Theater presents “Mamma Mia!,” through Saturday at the Grand Theater in Wausau.

Performance times are tonight at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, 2 and 7:30 p.m.

Advance tickets are $22 for adults, $18 for seniors, college students and active military, and $14 for youth. Call the box office at 715 842-0988.

OTHER EVENTS

Colleen's Craft Shed, located at 517 Clermont St. just north of the Antigo Post Office, is planning a series of classes. The schedule includes Paint and Chalk Your Letter on Saturday; and Ink on Canvas Bag June 29. Stop in to sign up.

Aspirus Langlade Hospital will continue its Heart Healthy Grocery Store Tours on Tuesday, 3:30 to 5 p.m., at Pick 'n Save. It will be led by Carolyn Kelk, registered dietitian. It's free but space is limited and advance registration is required. Call 715 623-9873.
