space
The Elcho Hornets baseball team closed its regular season Friday with a solid win over a conference opponent, downing Goodman-Pembine in a game played on Crandon's home field, 10-6.

Cole Kupfer pitched a solid six innings, with Jacob Eighmy and Mason Rusch both delivering two hits and driving in two runs as Elcho closes with a 6-6 mark, all games coming in the Northern Lakes Conference.

Kupfer allowed five runs, but only three earned on eight hits. He walked one, struck out two and hit two batters.

Wyatt Wheeler pitched the seventh inning and gave up an unearned run on a lone Goodman-Pembine base hit.

Elcho struck first with three runs in the top of the first inning and all came with two outs. Rush delivered a two-out hit to score one and Walker Wissbroecker reached on error, which allowed two more Hornets' runs to score.

The Patriots tied the game in the bottom of the second, with a pair of Elcho errors, combined with three hits putting three runs across. Landon Kalkofen, Stanley Marusczak and Kevin Strietzel proved the base knocks.

The teams exchanged runs in the third, before the Hornets broke things open in the sixth with five runs. Mac Morrison and Jacob Eighmy provided the big blows in the frame, with Morrison tripling to drive in one and Jacob Eighmy plating two with a double.

Eighmy completed his big night and Elcho's scoring with a solo home run in the seventh.

Rush scored three times on the night and stole three bases, while Kolton Schmidt swiped two bags.

Goodman-Pembine fell to 2-12-1 overall with the loss, 2-8 in conference play.
