Local businesses, restaurants all catering to Mother's Day

Salute mom Sundayâ€and every day for that matterâ€with breakfast or dinner out, a nice floral arrangement and maybe a good bottle of wine.

Antigo area retailers and restauranteurs have plenty of ideas for Mother's Day.

DINING

It starts Saturday night, when Fifth Avenue Restaurant and Lounge will serve roast duck and raspberry sauce, with choice of potato or wild rice and salad bar. Those not in a fowl mood are invited to enjoy a prime rib dinner. Serving starts at 4:30 p.m. and reservations for the duck would be appreciated by calling 715 623-2893.

Start Sunday off right with the breakfast buffet at Country Kitchen. Serving will be from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will include pancakes, French toast sticks, fresh fruits, fresh eggs, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, bacon, sausage, ham and more. All moms will receive free carnations while they last.

Also Sunday morning, stop by St. John Catholic Church basement for a Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast. Enjoy all-you-can-eat buttermilk and potato pancakes along with pork sausages, coffee, milk and orange juice. It's the last one of the season.

Treat mom to a delicious buffet at Quinn's Neva Corners. All moms get free mimosas. The buffet starts at 10 a.m. and includes chicken, beef tips, seafood alfredo, vegetables, potatoes, salad bar and dessert table.

Karcz's Melody Mill in Aniwa is offering a choice of two or four piece broasted chicken, king or queen cut prime rib, ribeye steak, or roast duck, with serving from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Reservations are encouraged, especially for the duck, and can be made by calling 715 449-2000.

Come and enjoy the newly remodeled Wolff's River Inn on Post Lake, with serving from 2 to 9 p.m. Everyone will receive a complimentary glass of champagne and moms will get free dessert. Specials include chicken and shrimp alfredo and breaded tenderloin and the full menu will be available.

Bass Lake Golf Course is open and the restaurant is a favorite spot for Mother's Day brunch. Serving will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include sliced, rolled prime rib, garlic butter shrimp, roast turkey, ham and scrambled eggs, baby reds, island blend vegetables, salad bar and dessert table. King and queen cut prime rib will also be available. Reservations are requested at 715 623-6201.

Swartzendruber's Supper Club is always a great dining choice. The buffet will be served Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes carved roast beef, roast pork loin, baked and broasted chicken, salad bar, a selection of potatoes, dressing, vegetables and casseroles along with a homemade desserts. Breakfast items will be added from 10 a.m. to noon. Make a reservation at 715 627-7027. Guests without reservations will be seated according to table availability.

Linda's Truck Stop Restaurant on Antigo's south side wishes all moms a Happy Mother's Day.

Treat mom like a queen on Mother's Day at Koni K's Family Restaurant in Elcho. In addition to the regular menu, Koni's will be serving stuffed Cornish hens and stuffed chicken breasts with mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, homemade dinner roll, choice of soup or salad and dessert.

Visit El Tequila Mexican Restaurant and get two 12-ounce lime margaritas for the price of one.

Two Angels Family Restaurant will be open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, perfect for treating mom to a delicious breakfast or bountiful lunch or dinner. Specials include pork prime rib, baked ham, roast turkey and baked chicken, all served with soup or salad along with choice of potato, vegetable, roll and butter.

Happy Mother's Day for Heartbreaker's. Come down Sunday between 3 and 8 p.m. for prime rib, Gorgonzola tenderloin, steak and shrimp combo, blackened salmon with cucumber sauce or shrimp trio.

Crab 'N Jack's, located on the Wolf River south of Langlade, will serve a Mother's Day buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will include chicken, ham, beef tips with all the trimmings, full salad bar and dessert table. Reservations are accepted and walk-ins welcome.

Mole Lake Casino-Lodge-Conference Center will serve a Mother's Day brunch from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

After all those buffets, stop at North Star Lanes to work off some of those desserts. Moms will get free bowling all day Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

FLORAL

Hey kids, give your mom a gift that will bloom all summer. Staff at Frisch Greenhouses will be on hand Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., to help select flowers that youngsters ages 12 and under can plant. There will be special prices too.

Hickey Floral & Gifts urges families to make it a Mother's Day to remember. The shop has patio blooming trees, indoor and outdoor blooming plants and hanging baskets and gifts galore, including candles and diffusers, greeting cards and more.

Just in time for Mother's Day, the fourth annual Diaper Drive is kicking off. Help little behinds get a little ahead by dropping off diapers at Lakeside Market, the Langlade County Health Department, CoVantage Credit Union and Pick ‘'n Save. The diapers will be provided to area children in need, offering both cloth and disposable varieties. The drive continues through June 16, which just happens to be Father's Day.
