Easter means the arrival of spring and a new round of weekend events.

THINK SPRING

Grandview Orchard and Nursery Stock is opening Saturday for the spring nursery season. Choose from 60-plus varieties of fruit trees along with oak, birch, maple, evergreens, lilacs and more.

DINING

Got a crowd coming for the holiday? Let Vickie and the Vets feed them and entertain them Saturday.

In the dining room, Vickie will be service prime rib, shrimp and/or tenderloin, chicken Alfredo with broccoli and poor man's lobster, all with salad bar. Hours are 4:30 to 8 p.m.

In the bar, enjoy live music with Donnie and Rosie of “Lovin' Country” from 5 to 9 p.m. There's no cover charge.

MOVIES

Now showing at the Palace Twin Theater are “Shazam,” rated PG-13, and “Missing Link,” rated PG.

AUCTIONS, SALES

The Greater Mattoon Area Historical Society is collecting unwanted firearms and other outdoor equipment as a fund-raiser toward creating the new museum. Donated items will be sold to collectors or at auction, with items of historical value kept as artifacts. Check the website at www.mattoonhistory.com or call 715 623-4513 or 715 489-3647 for more information.

OTHER EVENTS

The Langlade County Historical Society Museum is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complex includes the Carnegie library building, Deleglise Cabin and 440 locomotive and caboose. It is located at 404 Superior St. The Society is in the midst of a major fundraising campaign to install an elevator and make other necessary and aesthetic improvements. Stop by the museum to pick up a brochure.

The White Lake Area Historical Society operates the Depot Museum and Historical Center in White Lake. Hours are Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Aspirus Women will host “Caught in the Middle,” a program for multigenerational caregivers, on Thursday in the Aspirus Langlade Hospital. The program will begin at 4 p.m. with experts from LeRoyer Child Care, Adult Health Services and Power of Attorney experts. At 5 p.m. will be registration and appetizers followed by a 5:30 p.m. presentation with Dr. Patrick McKenna Registration is required as space is limited. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home will present Table Talk, a program about the benefits of funeral and cremation planning, will take place Thursday, noon to 1 p.m. at Luigi's Pizza & Pasta. Call 715 623-5202 to reserve a seat.

The Christian Motorcyclist Association will hold an informational meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the basement of St. John Church in Mattoon. The focus will be on “who we are and what we do.”
