Sports scheduled Thursday, so is snow
space
The people who watch Antigo sports say there are a pile of outdoor events scheduled for Thursday, and that's the same day the National Weather Service predicts there may be a pile of snow headed this way.

The Antigo High School athletic program has baseball, softball, soccer, track and tennis scheduled, with baseball at Kretz Brothers Park and the tennis team booked at Elleson Courts. But the plan may be in trouble.

The Weather Service is predicting six to 10 inches for the Langlade County area, including Kretz and Elleson facilities, hardly the situation that blends well with spring sports.

“It isn't bad yet,” Scott Walbeck, the Antigo Daily Journal sports director said today, but it was hoped that this week could provide the catch-up. During 2018 there was a huge snowstorm that did much like one predicted this week.

The people watching the weather are saying we should be enjoying every moment of today because then things sort of slide down hill.

Messy weather is on tap for most of the rest of the week with the latest model showing low pressure developing just each of the Rockies Wednesday tracking toward Wisconsin, and likely Langlade County.

Snow could break out on Wednesday in our area and depending on just where and how fierce that western storm is, could linger with snow into Thursday. In fact, it could hang on into Friday, if everything goes wrong.

Forecasters stress that this is early and no final determinations have been made on what might happen.

But for the athletes on the tennis and baseball teams, Thursday certainly looks.”

Antigo High School baseball players and volunteers used snowblowers to clear the infield of Kretz Bros. Park on Friday. They may be needing that equipment again late this week.
