Plenty of improvements for Antigo gymnasts in latest meet

The Antigo Girls Gymnastics team competed in the 2018 Snowflake Invitational hosted by Rhinelander on Saturday.  The team finished fifth out of nine teams with a score of 114.625.

Marshfield took the team title, ending the day with a score of 134.300. Ashland was a close second, with Rhinelander finishing in third and Medford one spot ahead of the Robins in fourth with a team total of 117.150.

Once again, all five of Antigo's gymnasts competed on all four events and Maggie Winter and Claire Musolff were the top two finishers for the Robins on every apparatus.

The best individual finish for the team was a fifth-place podium showing for Winter on uneven bars with an 8.125, followed by Musolff and Kaylee Zarda tied for 24th place with a score of 5.80.  Chloe Steber finished fourth for the team and 29th overall on bars with a score of 4.650, and Chloe Decker rounded out the team's bars rotation for the Robins with a 4.00, in 33rd place.

Antigo's best score on a single event was a 31.60 on vault.  Musolff had the Robins top score with an 8.350, tied for 8th place overall, followed by Winter with an 8.100 in 13th place.  Zarda finished 26th with a 7.60, Decker took 29th with a 7.550, and Steber finished 32nd with a 7.40.

On floor exercise, Winter finished in seventh place with a score of 8.40.  Musolff in 12th place with an 8.150, while Zarda scored a 7.250 putting her in 22nd place. Decker tied for 24th place with a score of 6.9, and Steber finished in 27th place with a score of 6.625.

On Antigo's final rotation, balance beam, Winter, again, had the top score for the team with a 7.70 in 13th place, followed by Musolff with a 7.025 in 19th place.  Steber and Decker finished in 22nd and 23rd place with scores of 6.650, and 6.575, respectively. Zarda rounded out the Robins' performance on beam with a score of 6.10 in 31st place.

“We definitely had some major improvements this week, but still have a lot of room to improve,” head coach Julie Langseth noted. “Being such a young team I am very excited to see where our potential and talent can still get us throughout this season.”

Winter also was the highest finisher for Antigo in the all-around competition as well in 7th place with a score of 32.325, followed by Musolff with a 29.325 in 12th place, Zarda in 15th place with a 26.750, Steber with a 25.325 in 19th place, and Decker with a 25.025 in 20th place.

Grace Holland of team champion Marshfield was the all-around winner.

The Lady Robins will compete in Tomah next Saturday, December 15th for their next competition, with the first rotation beginning at 10 a.m.
