Time to shake off that post-feast lethargy and get ready for the holidays.

The conclusion of the gun deer season on Sunday and a wealth of holiday shopping opportunities will combine for a busy weekend across the region, with the coming week being the final lull before the Christmas season begins in a big way.

Here's a look ahead, taken from the Antigo Daily Journal's advertising columns.

ENTERTAINMENT

Held's Bar, corners of Highways H, A and C, Deerbrook, will be open at 11 a.m. daily during hunting season. Tonight, enjoy live music by the Dukes, 8 p.m. to midnight. There will also be live music by The Poneymen on Saturday starting at 9 p.m. The bar is also serving homemade chili and soups.

Not Bob's is open daily for the hunt. Specials include hamburgers, cheeseburgers, pulled pork or pizza burger with homemade fries. Tonight, Grayling Pingel One-Man Band will play starting at 7 p.m.

MOVIES

Now showing at the Palace Twin Theater are “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelward,” rated PG-13, and “Dr. Seuss: The Grinch,” rated PG.

Strasser-Roller Funeral Home plans an open house and Christmas tree lighting on Saturday, 1:30 to 3 p.m., with the tree-lighting at 2 p.m. An invitation is extended to anyone who would like to join together in memory of a loved one.

Wrap up your weekend at the holiday opening of Frisch Greenhouses Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m. Enjoy cider, coffee and cookies with browsing beautiful displays, Christmas decor and gifts. Roping, ruscus, boughs and wreaths are now available.

Stock up for the holidays at Grandview Orchard. The Highway F farm store is open Fridays 2 to 6 p.m., through Dec. 21. Stop by for homemade apple pies, fresh or frozen cider, apples, caramel apples and gift cards.

Fifth Avenue Restaurant/Lounge will celebrate Small Business Saturday with a gift certificate sale, Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stop in for lunch and get more bang for your buck.

Schroeder's will celebrate “Stack” Friday today with 265 percent off all Alex and Ani.

AUCTIONS

Wausau Auctions plans two great sales next Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1.

On Friday, auctioneers will be at the Mike Brock estate, W536 County Road J, Gleason. It includes the 40-acre farm and equipment and machinery.

On Saturday, Dec. 1, the sale moves to the Albert Beaudry estate, W624 Lone Pine Rd., Merrill. It includes a 40-acre real estate parcel, vehicles, guns and more.

OTHER EVENTS

The Langlade County Historical Society Museum is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complex includes the Carnegie library building, Deleglise Cabin and 440 locomotive and caboose. It is located at 404 Superior St.

The White Lake Area Historical Society operates the Depot Museum and Historical Center in White Lake. Hours are Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Friday, Nov. 30, the society will host a chicken noodle soup and grilled cheeses supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the White Lake Community Center. A tree-lighting will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the Depot Museum.

Kathryn Hunter is celebrating her 90th birthday and friends and family and invited. An open house will be held Saturday, 1 to 4 p.m. at Vickie and the Vets. No gifts please.
