The Badger Amateur Baseball Association playoffs are down to division finals after playoff action on Sunday.

The Polar Bears, calling Antigo's Kretz Park home, fell to Birnamwood in a mild upset in the North Division semifinal, 6-3.

Polar led an early 3-0 lead slip away. After the third-seeded Bears plated three runs in the second, number two seed Birnamwood answered back with a single run in the third, a pair in the fourth, and three runs in the sixth as it went on for the win.

Zach Bembenek settled in on the mound for Birnamwood after the rough second inning and went on to secure the win, striking out seven and allowing three runs on seven hits through seven innings of work.

Austin Reed pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

Kyle Wagoner took the loss for Polar. Wagoner worked two innings following starter Cole Kuenzli, who went four frames. Kuenzli allowed six hits and struck out one.

Cory Urban relieved Wagoner and pitched three scoreless innings out of the pen. Urban allowed a lone hit, walked two and struck out five.

Jed Weix and Phil Seis led the Bears with two hits each, Seis doubled. Urban, Blake Below, Hunter Kirsch, and Wagoner all had one hit, with Urban's blow a double.

Birnamwood pounded out 10 hits, with Gus Turner-Zick, Bembenek, Corey Krull, and Jason Reick leading the way with two base knocks each.

Birnamwood advances to this Sunday's North Division final where it will host fourth-seeded Elderon, who upset number one-seed Eland, 5-2.

Other division finals include Clintonville against Gresham in the East Division, Caroline plays at Little Falls for the West title, and the South Central division tilt pits Scandinavia against Waupaca.

Winners advance to the league semifinals.
