space
A woman who led authorities on a near four mile high speed chase Saturday, following a retail theft incident at the Antigo Wal-Mart was ordered to a $2,000 cash bond in Langlade County Circuit Court Monday.

Patricia A. Douglas, 48, Summit Lake, is charged with felony counts of flee/elude an officer, and reckless driving/endangering safety, along with a misdemeanor retail theft charge. She may have no contact with Wal-Mart while the case is pending.

Douglas appeared via video from the Langlade County Jail, where she has been held since the incident.

According to online court records, police received a report from Wal-Mart store personnel at 6:27 p.m. Saturday of an alleged female shoplifter, later identified as Douglas, who had fled when confronted.

An officer soon located Douglas’ vehicle on Highway 64 and attempted a traffic stop. Douglas’ failed to stop and continued on at a high rate of speed, heading through the Industrial Park and passing County Road N, at which time the officer caught up to her at an estimated speed of 99 miles-per-hour.

The pursuit continued for a time until a license plate number was obtained, at which time the officer terminated the pursuit out of concern for public safety.

The vehicle was registered to a different individual, who identified Douglas as her roommate. Still photos from video surveillance at Wal-Mart also showed Douglas as the suspect.

Total value of the items taken at the store was $389.05.

She will return to court for a clerical appearance on July 9.

Several other individuals charged with retail theft, although of a less serious variety, also made initial appearances Monday.

Mishaeil J. Mishaeil, 30, Laona, had a $1,200 cash bond set, charged with retail theft and bail jumping. Mishaeil has another open retail theft case pending in the county.

Online accounts show Mishaeil pumped $38.01 of gas at the Northside BP on the afternoon of May 31. He turned over a $50 bill to the manager, who apparently pushed the wrong button on the register and needed to clear the transaction, returning the bill to Mishaeil.

At that point, Mishaeil is said to have gone to the restroom, and when returned claimed the manager had not given him his $50 bill back. Mishaeil had $50 returned to him, but later video surveillance footage showed the manager did indeed return the bill.

David A. Faust, 29, Birnamwood, had a $1,000 signature bond continued, facing a lone count of retail theft as a repeater.

Faust is accused of concealing a battery pack and leaving Wal-Mart in Antigo without paying for the item on March 3. When confronted by store security, he allegedly refused to stop and abruptly left in his vehicle.

Surveillance video along with social media photographs positively identified Faust.

Both Faust and Mishaeil are also due back in court July 9.
