Music rolls from pavilion at Elcho as MLC Blues Band performs Wednesday
space
Blues, with a mix of a few vintage rock tunes, drifted from the Elcho Community Pavilion Wednesday evening as the summer music program continued, this time with the MLC Blues Band performing.

It was a perfect evening and the music was, as always for the performance veterans, exceptional. Elcho-area Girl Scouts were serving barbecues, which were excellent and had an assortment of pies, including a very tempting Oreo selection.

In a nod to the long-standing Music in the Park program in Antigo, businesses from northern Langlade County banded together in recent years to support the program that draws performances to the pavilion.

The Elcho High School band got the program rolling on May 27, and the MLC crew appearing in the second date. Future shows include Lovin’ Country on June 20; MPK Celtic Christian Band on July 4; LYVE on July 18; Fran the Piano Man on Aug. 1; and Joe and Janice Marie on Aug. 15. Music at Elcho wraps up on Aug. 29 with Bobby Vintage.

The pavilion is a near-perfect venue, with a grassy area for seating and a spacious inside area with garage doors that can be rolled up or down depending on the weather. There are also restrooms, a kitchen and bar.

The summer music program continues tonight in Antigo with Spotlight Polka Band performing at 6:30 p.m. at City Park, with everyone welcome to attend. The band is sponsored by Evergreen Terrace and the county’s Crime Stoppers program will be serving brat and burger plates. Calvary Lutheran Church will be offering the pies.

The first show of the season at White Lake will be Tuesday, June 19 with the Northernaires on the bandstand. Pizza, pies and custard will be serviced by the White Lake Girl Scouts.
