Time for a long winter’s nap?

Maybe, for some, but winter activities, both inside and out, are just heating up across the northwoods.

BELL RINGERS DINNER

The Langlade County Salvation Army has had another record-setting year and it is time to celebrate.

An appreciation dinner for bell ringers of all ages and their families will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Faith United Church of Christ.

There will be food and fellowship. If you wish, bring a salad, dish or dessert to pass.

NORTH STAR

Don’t tell Mohican North Star Casino Resort at Bowler that the winter doldrums have arrived. The upcoming entertainment schedule is sizzling.

On Saturday, stop down at 8 p.m. for Tribute to the King: An American Trilogy. Tickets are $20 and will showcase Elvis from 1956 through 1973.

Upcoming events include Josh Turner on Jan. 19, Michael Carbonaro on Feb. 3 and Peter Cetera on Feb. 16. The Jan. 12 REO Speedwagon concert is sold out.

MOVIES

Now showing at The Palace Twin Theater are Star Wars: The Last Jedi, rated PG-13, and The Greatest Showman, rated PG.

OTHER EVENTS

The Langlade County Historical Society Museum has switched to winter hours. It is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complex includes the Carnegie library building, Deleglise Cabin and 440 locomotive and caboose. It is located at 404 Superior St.

The White Lake Area Historical Society operates the Depot Museum and Historical Center in White Lake. Winter hours are Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or by appointment.
