space
The CoVantage Blue Jays were crowned champions of Antigo Little League’s majors division on Thursday night, leaving no doubt in a 10-2 romp over Tommy’s Braves.

The game was tight early, tied at two in the fourth inning, until the Blue Jays took command with a six run bottom half of the frame.

Braden Stanke and Cole Umland came up with key hits from the bottom of the lineup, setting the stage for the top half, as Dane Fredrickson and Trevor Tarras both had run scoring singles. The Jays also took advantage of four walks by Braves’ pitching in the inning.

The Blue Jays added two runs in the fifth, with the frame highlighted by a double from Stanke. Umland and Tarras had hits in the inning as well.

Stanke, Umland and Tarras led the way at the plate with two hits each. Fredrickson and Mason Gray each had one.

Gray, Tarras, Fredrickson and Connor Cornelius combined on the mound to hold the Braves to five hits.

Riley Leveque had two of those hits to lead the Braves, while Paden Michalik doubled and Sam Bretl and Marvin Duchac singled.

Ty Kohler, Duchac, Bretl and Ben Robrecht comprised the Braves’ pitching staff, as they struck out a total of five batters.
