Police calls include possible squatter in cabin
space
A case of possible squatting was reported to Langlade County Sheriff’s authorities Tuesday.

A 59-year-old Sobieski, woman reported a cabin which she owns on Pine Road near White Lake may have an unwelcome guest. A recent bill for electric use at the cabin drew her attention as no one should have been at the cabin in quite some time. Upon investigation she found a number of personal items and a cell phone inside and phoned police.

In an unrelated case, City Gas Company in Antigo reported a possible theft of fuel. A worker called police to request an officer meet him at a Virginia Street home this morning, as a one of their locks was broken off a gas meter.

A gas driveoff was reported Tuesday night at the BP South station, just after 9 p.m. An employee reported a man driving a maroon Oldsmobile Alero had left without paying for his gas. A male passenger was inside the vehicle as well. The pair was last seen traveling north on Highway 45. BP will attempt to review video surveillance today.

Authorities also dealt with a fight inside the Langlade County Jail Tuesday night. According to police reports, a 30-year-old male inmate grabbed a 39-year-old male inmate by the neck, causing scratches. The man then also fell and struck his head. No significant injuries were reported.
