Antigo man, 21, faces a very rare terror count
space
A 21 year old Antigo male, already facing disorderly conduct charges for disrupting two area church services in November, and counts of criminal damage to property for graffiti at another church, now finds himself in even deeper hot water.

According to police and court records, Jacob Rydberg was arrested by Antigo police Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday was officially charged with a felony count of making a terrorist threat, along with felony bail jumping.

Rydberg was the subject of a traffic stop Tuesday at 12:45 a.m. on Superior Street , and was cited for operating while suspended and for having no insurance.

That apparently was the catalyst for a social media rant later that morning, in which Rydberg posted a video on facebook in which he threatened to kill law enforcement officers and also made threatening comments towards the Antigo community and specifically towards a woman he referred to as that church lady.

After meeting with witnesses Tuesday and conferring with the Langlade County district attorney’s office, the decision was made to charge Rydberg with the felony terrorist count.

Antigo police first visited his Sixth Avenue apartment to arrest him, but he was not home. He was located at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, parked outside the Antigo Public Library, and according to reports, was watching videos on his cell phone.

Rydberg needed to be physically removed from his vehicle by officers and was handcuffed and taken into custody. Police then inspected his phone, which still had a video playing. The You Tube video showed an assailant firing at a police officer and killing him.

Rydberg made his first court appearance in the case on Wednesday afternoon, where Judge John Rhode set his bond at $50,000 cash. He is due back in court May 12 for an initial appearance.
