Personnel matters top Elcho agenda
space
Summertime staff turnovers, plus planning for the 2014-15 school year fills the agenda for the Elcho school board on Wednesday.

The board will convene at 5:30 p.m. in the school theater.

Following the usual round of committee and administrative reports, the board will move into a fairly routine summertime agenda.

In personnel matters, the board is expected to accept the resignation of a certified staff member, assistant volleyball coach, and assistant girls’ basketball coach. It will also ink a continuing agreement with the White Lake school district for a foreign language teacher, increasing the time the instructor spends at Elcho from 50 to 75 percent.

Other personnel matters include increasing substitute teacher pay, changing a child care employee’s status from a nine-month to 12-month position, approving 20 additional days per year and compensation for the early learning center coordinator, and hiring a parent, program and student achievement coordinator.

Other action items include adopting parent and staff handbooks for the early learning center and taking a first look at the other school handbooks.

There will be presentations on technology goals, summer school participation, student growth in math and reading, and bullying.

The board will also discuss its committee structure.

Following the open meeting, the panel is scheduled to reconvene in closed session to discuss staffing.
