Howling winds Friday welcome Halloween

The wind howled and temperatures dove Friday evening, setting the stage for a perfect All Hallow’s Eve.

The Antigo area is geared up for what promises to be an outstanding celebration of the ghoulish holiday, with a parade and trick-or-treating for the children, costume parties for the adults, and the “Haunted Cellar” for just about all ages.

The “Cellar,” created by the Boys & Girls Club, is located in the basement of Family Video in the 900 block of Fifth Avenue. It will be open from 7 to 10 p.m. tonight Admission is $5.

During the daylight, young Halloween revelers are invited to join the Antigo Optimist Club Halloween parade, slated at 2 p.m.

The route begins at the railroad depot and travels east down Fifth Avenue to Field Street. There will be free treats for all contestants and cash prizes for the 15 best costumes worn by ages 14 and under.

Trick-or-treating will be held throughout Antigo following the parade until sundown.

For something different, Faith Center Church will sponsor its annual fall festival at the Middle School from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be free food, candy and games.

Trick-or-treating is also scheduled in the towns and villages surrounding Antigo as well. In Elcho, it will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. The town of Norwood, which includes Phlox, will hold the Halloween tradition from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

For the adults, North Star Lanes will host a Cyber Bowl O-Ween from 10 p.m. to midnight. Wear a costume and receive a drink special.

North Star Mohican Casino at Bowler will host a Halloween party tonight in the bingo hall. Boogie Nights plays from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Little Rock Bar in Aniwa will welcome Little Cisco playing live music from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be costume judging at midnight.

The Refuge Northwoods Bar and Restaurant plans some Halloween hijink. Brad Emanuel and the Groove Men will play starting at 9 p.m. There will be a costume contest, free appetizers, prizes and drink specials.

It’s Beer:30 promises a howling good time. There will be drink specials and door prizes along with Backwoods Karaoke after 9 p.m. A costume drawing is set for 12:30 a.m.

Tattle Tales Bar and Grill in Elcho will host a Halloween costume party, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be live music by Sly Billy, drink specials and prizes for best costume.

Rick’s Roadhouse 45 Bar & Grill will hold a Halloween party tonight. There will be cash prizes for best costumes along with drink specials all night long.

Stop by the Barmuda Triangle—Nick’s Tap, Smitty’s and Animal’s—for a Halloween costume party. There will be prizes and drink specials. There’s also karaoke at Nick’s at 8 p.m.
