Frightful cellar opening here tonight Oct. 29, 2009 The ghosts and ghouls are ready to assure a frightfully fun Halloween weekend.
Members of the Boys & Girls Club put the finishing touches on their “Haunted Cellar” Wednesday afternoon, and the doors will open on the attraction tonight.
The cellar is located in the basement of Family Video in the 900 block of Fifth Avenue. It will be open from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is $5.
According to Mark Young, crowds are expected so those wishing to tour the cellar are advised to come early. Only limited numbers will be allowed at any one time to enhance the Halloween experience.
The Haunted Cellar is not recommended for youngsters under the age of 10, or anyone who may be a bit more on the squeamish side.
That cellar will occupy the evening hours.
During the daylight, young Halloween revelers are invited to join the Antigo Optimist Club Halloween parade, slated Saturday at 2 p.m.
The route begins at the railroad depot and travels east down Fifth Avenue to Field Street. There will be free treats for all contestants and cash prizes for the 15 best costumes worn by ages 14 and under.

Trick-or-treating will be held throughout Antigo until sundown. For something different, Faith Center Church will sponsor its annual fall festival at the Middle School from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be free food, candy and games.
Trick-or-treating is scheduled Saturday in the towns and villages surrounding Antigo as well.
In Elcho, trick-or-treating will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. The town of Norwood, which includes Phlox, will hold the Halloween tradition from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
