Crews begin work on new KFC, building will also include Taco Bell Oct. 24, 2009 The commercial construction season is continuing in Antigo as the first blasts of winter roll across the fields, lakes and hills of central Wisconsin.
Doug Smith, a Merrill businessman, has a crew setting the footings to construct a new Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell franchise at North Avenue and Neva Road, the site of a chicken restaurant until the structure was raised earlier this year.
Jerry Wilhelm, Antigo’s building inspector, said the Smith organization hopes to have the building set, erected and enclosed before the arrival of wintry weather to allow interior refinements to continue.
Wilhelm said the anticipated opening of the facility will be in the later spring of 2010, after paving and landscaping can be done.
It has been quite a year for commercial construction here, while it has been quiet in many cities across the U.S.
The North Town Centre complex has blossomed and work was completed on the Holiday Inn Express during the spring months.
The Antigo Country Store was built into the long-idle County Market structure and ground was broken this week at Northcentral Technical College for a major wood technology center on the East Campus in Antigo.
