
PEEBLES TO OPEN--The sign announcing the opening of the new Peebles store blew in a stiff wind on Antigo’s north side this morning. The store will join Goodwill, Sears, Dollar Tree, Fashion Bug and Cost Cutters in the former Kmart plaza, with Kwik Trip and a new Subway nearby. Several retail spaces remain to be filled.

Peebles schedules opening here on April 30, construction nears end March 18, 2009 The signs are up and the renovations nearly completed as Antigo shoppers await the arrival of Peebles, one of the nation’s leading family fashion stores, in 43 days.
The 13,000 square foot store has been carved out of a piece of the former Kmart Plaza on Antigo’s north side. It is one of the focuses of the redevelopment of the strip that now includes Sears and Goodwill stores, an expanded Dollar Tree, along with longtime retailer Fashion Bug and a Cost Cutters hair salon.
The plaza’s outlot also includes a Kwik Trip convenience store and a new Subway restaurant now under construction.
“We’re very excited to become a part of the Antigo community,” Andy Hall, president and CEO of Stage Stores, which operates Peebles, said. “We look forward to offering everyone an enjoyable, one-stop shopping experience for the family.”
At Peebles, Hall said that customers will have easy access to a broad selection of name-brand and private label family apparel, shoes, accessories, home decor, gifts and more—all at great, low prices every day.
Hall said that Peebles has been in the retail business for over 100 years and “has a fine reputation for bringing personalized customer service, great selection and convenient close-to-home locations to neighborhoods and small communities across the country.”
Stage Stores Inc., operates more than 735 stores in 38 states under the Peebles name throughout the New England, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Midwest. Stores operate under the Palais Royal and Stage names throughout the southern, central and western states and under the Bealls moniker in Texas.
