Playground project needs volunteers Wooden towers are rising at Sixth Avenue and Field Street and there were dozens of men, women and young people working this morning on the new community playground — that will be an impressive facility in the very near future.
But the crew could use a little help, especially in the early evening hours from about 5:30 p.m. until about 8:30 p.m. — or until weather or darkness brings things to a halt.
Mayor Mike Matousek, who with his wife, Chris, has championed the park, explained that there is still plenty of work to do and time is running short.
He saluted City Gas Co. of Antigo, which sent its crew down to the site today. And he noted that they came with construction skills that helped this move ahead.
“But we really could use some help, especially in the evenings,” the mayor said.
Perhaps dining early — or a tad late tonight — could speed things along. Check in at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Field Street.
