Fair rocks on opening night July 29, 2010 The crowd-pleasing Vic Ferrari group and the Grammy-nominated After Edmund Christian band dueled across the Langlade County Fairgrounds Wednesday, capping a successful opening evening for the 2010 exposition.
“We got off to a good start,” fair coordinator Rhonda Klement said. “The vendors were all pleased and the midway was busy.”
“Rockin’ the Grandstand Christian-style” was a new entry to the fair lineup this year, and experienced some growing pains. But at the other end of the midway, under the free music tent, the Vic Ferrari band packed the house and played well into the evening hours.
Tonight’s lineup will include pig catching in front of the grandstand and, under the tent, The Toys. Other highlights will include magician/comedian Kid Davie around the midway and in the multi-purpose building.
Klement said this will also be a wristband night, with all the rides you want for $15 between 6 and 10 p.m.
“This is a new wristband night so it will be interesting to see how it goes,” she said.
Klement said the number of exhibits is up and, with the pleasant summer weather and more in the forecast, the fair is off to an excellent start.
“There’s a lot to see,” she said.
