Gunshot rings at area home, three arrested July 8, 2010 A gun accidentally discharged and just missed hitting a man in the leg when a fight erupted at a rural Antigo residence overnight.
Three people, two women and one man all under the age of 21, were arrested while a second man sought treatment at Langlade Hospital for injuries suffered during the subsequent physical brawl.
The four were paired off by couples and according to statements collected by investigating deputies, the skirmish was initially triggered when one of the women and her boyfriend became engaged in a verbal dispute in a vehicle.
She told deputies he left her stranded along the roadway and after being retrieved by her sister and her boyfriend, the three went to the other man’s home where the fight escalated.
The trio was met by the man who displayed a gun and in the ensuing commotion, a bullet was fired. The weapon was eventually tossed into the bed of a pickup truck but the fighting continued, this time with fists.
A 911 hang-up call initially alerted the Langlade County Sheriff’s Department to a problem but three of the individuals had already left the scene before their arrival. The trio was arrested in a subsequent traffic stop and now face criminal charges which could include disorderly conduct and battery.
